Phyllobates

Approximately six species:

Phyllobates aurotaenia
A bold, active and outgoing frog with an attractive call. Quite easy to breed. Several morphs: green banded, yellow banded.

P. bicolorPhyllobates bicolor
A big yellow frog closely related to P. terribilis. Easy to feed and seems to prefer larger prey items such as woodlice, crickets (not full grown) and earwigs. A range of different calls, including a trilling call very similar to D. leucomelas and quacking like a duck! Difficult to sex, females call as well as males!


P.terribilisPhyllobates terribilis
A large, bold frog with several morphs, yellow, orange and mint (a pale form). Fearless and always ready for a meal! BDG Archive


P. vittatusPhyllobates vittatus
A predominantly dark coloured, robust and easily fed frog. Suitable for beginners, but not as easily available as other common beginners frogs.
