This has long been a favourite of mine. It covers a wide
variety and great number of different species of carnivorous plants. Not
only that, but it is written by Adrian Slack one of the country's leading
authorities on the subject.
Every species you are likely to encounter gets a mention here, as well as a few that you aren't likely to encounter. The book is well illustrated throughout with colour photographs, shown alongside many of Adrian's beautiful line drawings. I remember writing to him years ago about pollination of U. sandersonii. He replied on a postcard and included several unmistakable drawings of the flowers of this plant. Sadly, that postcard seems to have become misplaced.
The information in this book is trustworthy and thorough and, at the £7.95 price tag, is an absolute bargain. No collection of books on carnivorous plants should be without this volume.
By the way, the picture on the back cover does, indeed, show a drowned frog inside the pitcher of a species of Nepenthes.
And some people like to combine these plants with their Poison Arrow frogs.....
